It has been a whilst considering the fact that my last kitchen makeover update, but I am back now with our newest project checked off the kitchen list. Quartz Countertops!
Let me remind you where our kitchen began.
To be totally honest, I don’t even recognize this orange kitchen. It appears so different already and we aren’t finished. I Enitial Lab definitely wanted to brighten our kitchen due to the fact we don’t get a lot of organic light in it and all the orange oak wood made it look drab and dark.
We started with painting the cabinets “Agreeable Gray” from Sherwin Williams.
That alone created the kitchen brighter.
Then, we added some bling to the cabinets with new cupboard hardware from Hickory Hardware.
When we had the cabinets place back with each other, we seriously saw how beige our laminate countertops were.
Back prior to we began this makeover, I was pinning a lot of stunning kitchens to my Pinterest boards. All of the kitchens I pinned had been vibrant and airy which I wanted to try to achieve in our kitchen. A lot of kitchens that are really vibrant and airy are all white, but I knew I didn’t want an all-white kitchen. I believed it was not practical for us and I didn’t want to place my “cleaning OCD” in over-drive. 😉
I wanted the cabinet color bright, but not white. I wanted a neutral color that would blend with all types of colors since I modify my mind so typically. 😉 The “Agreeable Gray” functions nicely with the wood tones in the new laminate floor and the wood Enitial Lab beam we added in the rocell sofa ceiling. It is both a warm and cool color. It is excellent.
When we were thinking about new countertops, I seriously loved the appear of concrete countertops. When I heard that they weren’t straightforward to do and it was challenging to locate people today to do them, (exactly where are the Chip Gaines’ around right here?) I had to feel of a distinct alternative.
Our laminate countertops have been excellent for us. They have held up nicely more than the years and I by no means had to worry about them. With new countertops, I wanted every thing I had in the laminate countertops, but in a new colour. Matt was genuinely pushing for stone countertops.
With all that in thoughts and just after substantially back and forth, we landed on Quartz countertops. I truly enjoyed studying about all the different choices out there and weighing the pros and cons of each and every a single.
We chose Wilsonart Quartz in the color “Arlington Q1005″ with an Eased edge and no back splash.
To save money on labor, we removed the old countertops ourselves. It took a tiny tugging and pulling, but it truly wasn’t that really hard to get them off.

I was actually excited to get rid of the back splash part of our old countertops. We are going to add a back splash so it will Enitial Lab be nice to have the tile come proper down to the counters.
Hello, gorgeous Quartz countertops!
What a difference they make.

We still have quite a few projects to finish in the kitchen, but I wanted to bring you this makeover as we did each and every project. That is why the wall doesn’t appear right, you may see some painter’s tape around and the wall is two distinct colors where we will need to add the back splash. 😉
You can’t see it rocell sofa in the images, but the countertops have tiny bits of sparkle in them. They are such a quite gray color. I got the concrete colour and appreciate how they appear with the cabinet colors!
The spot exactly where we tore down the wall has been my favourite element of the makeover so far. This small bit of added countertop not only opened up the kitchen, but it gave me a lot extra space to spread out on when I cook.
